Bless you

I’ve imagined a small oracle made of four illustrations. Like tarot or oracle cards, they don’t try to predict anything. They work as a mirror: a symbolic prompt that turns your attention toward your own thoughts and actions.

Each card holds three ideas in a single image: an animal, an obstacle and a blessing. The animal is the individual, you, in the middle of your own life. The obstacle is the kind of difficulty we all meet along the way. The blessing is what I wish for you in order to get through it.

Now choose one card. Only one will reveal itself to you, so take your time and see what it asks of you. The other three stay hidden for now; further down the page you can meet all four.

Choose one card. Let it bless you.

THE FOX

The fox is quick and clever, always reading the ground ahead. Yet no amount of cunning can control everything. The swords are the hunt: danger that doesn’t ask permission, the moments when being smart is not enough. Luck is not the opposite of skill. It is what meets it halfway, the gap that opens at the right moment. Where are you trying to control what can only be met? And are you ready for the opening when it comes?

THE HARE

The hare survives by running, not by fighting. The brambles do not block the way; they scratch, slow you down and wear you out. This is the kind of difficulty that rarely looks dramatic from the outside. Strength here is not force but endurance: the ability to keep going while it hurts. What are you carrying that you have stopped noticing is heavy? Where is your strength already showing?

THE HORSE

The horse is made for open ground, but here it is caught among columns that all look alike. A labyrinth is made of structures that repeat, where it is easy to lose all sense of direction. Hope does not show you the exit. It keeps you moving while you look for it. What keeps you going when you cannot see the way out? What are you moving toward?

THE STAG

The stag is alert, quiet and at home in the forest. For everyone else, the trees are only a blur of identical choices. Wisdom is not knowing the path in advance. It is knowing how to choose: slowing down, listening, noticing what the forest is telling you. Which decision are you putting off? And what do you already know about it?
